Our Coaching Staff

ADDISON MARUSZAK

Addison is in charge of baseball operations at Baseball University. He was an All American and Big East Rookie of the Year for D1 University of South Florida. Addison was drafted his junior year in the 17th round to the New York Yankees where he played for 7 years. He then was picked up in his free agency by the Philadelphia Phillies where he played parts of one season.

JEFF KARSTENS

Jeff is the current pitching coach for the Berkeley Prep baseball team. He played collegiately at Grossmont College and Texas Tech University. He was then drafted by the New York Yankees where he played 9 years professionally, making it to the big leagues with the Yankee and Pittsburgh Pirates. He is an accomplished veteran with a tremendous love of the game. He is a huge asset to Baseball University and our players.

 

ADIN LOHRY

Adin was selected by the New York Yankees in the 4th Round of the 1989 MLB June Free Agent Draft. Adin played 6 seasons for the Yankees. He is currently a coach at Jesuit High School in Tampa, FL.

CASEY CLARY

Casey played 4 years of college ball at St. Andrews College, and 5 years of minor league ball. He has Worked with pitchers at Seminole High School for the past 2 years and is also currently working with catchers and Countryside High School. Casey is the owner and operator of Clary Baseball, his private instruction business located in Saint Petersburg, FL.

DOMINGO JEAN

Domingo is a past New York Yankee pitcher from the Dominican Republic. His high intensity and glowing personality helps Baseball University get the best out of each player. If a player isn’t running on and off the field, Domingo will see it.

MARK NEWMAN

Mark is the retired Senior VP of Baseball Operations for the New York Yankees. He was with the Yankees for 26 years. Before his career with the Yankees, Mark was a very successful D1 college coach for the University of Southern Illinois and Old Dominion. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame for both of those schools. Mark is a tremendous asset to Baseball University and now spends his time giving back to the youth.

ANTHONY TELFORD

Anthony was an All American baseball player for San Jose State, and was later drafted in the third round by the Baltimore Orioles. He pitched 9 years in the big leagues with numerous teams. After his playing days, Anthony was a professional coach for multiple clubs, one of them being the Pittsburgh Pirates. Anthony now resides in Tampa, FL and runs his own pitching program while helping Baseball University in the pitching sector as well.

MARC ESKEW

Marc is the current assistant varsity coach for Bishop Mclaughlin High School. Prior to his time at BMHS, Marc was the head varsity coach for Sickles High School. He was also a key component in Keystone Little Leagues success. Marc is a huge asset to Baseball University both on and off the field. Marc is the manager of the 17u Bombers.

KEVIN DATTOLA

Kevin played for the University of South Florida and was then drafted by the Oakland A’s. His professional playing and coaching career spanned over 19 years. Kevin played and coached all around the world. He is the current varsity head coach for Shorecrest Prep School in Saint Petersburg, FL.

MYRON LESLIE

Myron was an All American for the University of South Florida. He was drafted by the Oakland Athletics, but also played for the New York Yankees. He played 8 years professionally. Myron versatility in professional baseball made him into an outstanding coach.

SHANE ROWLAND

Shane played high school baseball at Tampa Catholic. He then played collegiately at the University of Miami and the University of Tampa, eventually getting drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 20th round. He played three years professionally and is Baseball University’s catching coordinator. He is a player favorite and brings the best out of each kid.

TODD SILVERMAN

Todd played 3rd base at Gaither High School and Hillsborough Community College. He then played 2nd base for the University of Central Florida his junior year and then the University of South Florida his senior year. During the 2017 professional season, the Tampa Bay Rays brought Todd in to help their hitting staff. Todd got to work with some of the Rays’ top hitters such as Evan Longoria.

JOEL RAMOS

Joel is the current middle school coach for Berkeley Prep Baseball. He is one of the top notch coaches in the Tampa Bay area and has a gift a coaching the 13-14u players. His specialty is taking these players and preparing them for varsity baseball as a freshmen. He has a true knack for this age group and understands what needs to happen to get them ready for high level high school baseball.
