Baseball University’s winter training programs have begun and are in full force. As the Florida Baseball Institute is being built, tentatively being open to the public by mid February 2017, we have been non stop on the field for three days a week preparing high school players for their upcoming spring season.
At Baseball University, we believe player development is #1. Everything we do is strategically organized to develop the individual. With that being said, we practice a lot and with high intensity. We provide players with a tremendous resource: great coaches. Our coaches are high class individuals, some of which currently coach in professional baseball.
Our three day a week structure allows us to have a focused approach to practice. With a low coach to player ratio, each player gets that individualized attention needed to get them where they need to be for the upcoming spring high school baseball season. We utilize a station approach where these individuals can work with coaches who specialize in a certain baseball skill. For instance, outfielders have their own outfield coach that takes them through drills to achieve specific objectives.
During the final two weeks of our program, we will begin our inter squads. This will help players take what they have learned into a controlled game with coaches at their side. For us, this is a very important time of development for these players. We cannot just practice and forget about the games. But, we cannot just go straight into a competitive game where kids might not initially have success with their adjustments.
Adjustments take time. It is a process. It is not a quick fix. Inter squads allow these individuals to stick with their adjustments and not immediately give them up if they are initially unsuccessful. This is our developmental culture.
This winter program is allowing us to view and assess individuals for our summer showcase teams, which we are very excited about. We will train a lot in the summer, but also play in showcases where individuals will be able to showcase their skills they have been working on. We have a perfect balance of training and games.
Don’t be afraid to check our winter or summer programs out. You only have three weeks left of the winter program, but we promise you won’t practice like this anywhere else.
